Research Faculty Teaching Fellowship Awarded to
Dr. Rahul C. Basole

Atlanta (August 1, 2009) - The Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Research and Innovation (SVPRI) today awarded Dr. Rahul Basole, a research scientist in the Tennenbaum Institute, a Research Faculty Teaching Fellowship for 2009-2010. The Research Faculty Teaching Fellows Program provides opportunities for research faculty who work outside of the academic units to participate in academic unit instructional and related programs. The fellowship program seeks to leverage the expertise in cutting-edge research programs into instructional programs that enhance the teaching missions in the academic units. Funding for this program is provided by the Office of the Provost and by the Georgia Tech Research Institute.

Dr. Basole received the fellowship award for his interdisciplinary graduate course “Complex Networks and Enterprises”. The course introduces students to complex network analysis theory, research and methodology and explores “networks” in topical areas such as innovation, knowledge/collaboration, new product/service development, supply chains, business ecosystems, and entrepreneurship. Examples will be drawn from a diverse set of industries such as global manufacturing, healthcare, biotechnology, and telecommunications.

The course was supported and endorsed by three academic units at Georgia Tech – the College of Engineering, the College of Computing, and the College of Management. The course exemplifies the strongly interdisciplinary approach the Tennenbaum Institute uses to better understand complex and large-scale enterprise issues.

Dr. Rahul Basole is a Research Scientist in the Tennenbaum Institute at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research focuses on innovation management and technology strategy in complex enterprise systems. In particular, Dr. Basole conducts research on the modeling, analysis, and visualization of extended enterprise networks and business ecosystems in domains such as mobile telecommunications, biotechnology, healthcare, and global manufacturing. Dr. Basole has received several best paper awards and his work has been extensively published in books, prestigious research journals, and conference proceedings.
